A journey to myself

Hi. You probably wonder what this is all about. I am sharing my journeys with whoever likes to hear about it. Up to now I was able to visit around 20 countries, and I lived in 4 different countries and worked also there. I always liked travelling and I was always fascinated with indigenous cultures and their lifestyle, insights and knowledge. My dream is not over yet. I will travel more countries next year and keep sharing pictures and thoughts about it.

Some moments in life are magical.

One  moment was the discovery of skiing and mountains when I was a child. I don't come from a mountainous area, so for me it was a discovery. That may sound strange, but at least this enthusiasm for mountains and skiing has never left me. I was 5 years old when I first got on skis. At that time there weren't many children's courses and I was left by myself, which was great from my point of view, because I just drove as I felt like it and had a lot of fun doing it. The other point is that I suddenly felt like I had arrived somewhere in the mountains and felt comfortable and at home. This felling of "arrived somewhere and home" is something I don't have anywhere else.

Magic of mountains

To me this kind of feeling means something, because in my daily life I often feel like I was delivered to  the wrong planet. I am extremely sensitive to noise and I dislike crowds just to mention a few issues. I like lonelyness, but I don`t like beeing lonely. These preferences are perfect for skiing and hiking in mountains.

One thing leads to another..

Because nature and mountains are precious to me, I am extremely worried about the climate change and the melting of glaciers that we see every year now. I think tourism is not a bad thing, because people won't protect what they don't value. But I think, we need to do more than we are doing at the moment. For a start : Please take averything back with you, what you bring to mountains. Don't use them as a personal garbage dump.

 Childhood Travel

I was really lucky to have parents who regularly went on skiing holidays with me and as a young teenager I was quite adept at skiing. I was in Zermatt, Val d'Isere/Tignes, Bellwald, Isola 2000, St. Moritz and others. But you can also ski on the Großer Arber. Before the pandemic we were at Plan de Corones in South Tyrol and hopefully at Christmas we will be in Val Gardena, South Tyrol.

I also did some ski courses back then, unfortunately I never did any documentation about it. I think that's a shame today, but maybe I'll manage to take a ski course again and work on my technique with feedback. That's never wrong.
Wishes: I would like to ski Vallee Blanche on Mont Blanc in Chamonix and do a ski tour. Maybe in Nepal?
Befor that my son and I will go on a hiking/social visit to Nepal next year. That is as good as booked.
